Ego Perception: Problematic Paradigm — EPUB 3.0

$108.17 NZD (plus tax)

Ego Perception: Problematic Paradigm offers an interdisciplinary reconstruction of the ego and the psychological organization of the person. Beginning with Freud’s structural model, Jason S. Alkema examines the enduring cultural image of id, ego, and superego while questioning the assumption that these constructs should be understood as separate internal agencies.

The book develops an alternative account of ego as the global, developing organization of the whole person: a developmental and executive system through which experience is perceived, organized, assimilated, and governed. Need, fear, conscience, identity, attachment, defense, perception, consciousness, the unconscious, and reality-contact are treated as interdependent functions and resources organized through the person’s evolving relationship with experience and the social and intrapersonal environments.

Drawing on psychoanalytic and psychodynamic history, ego and self psychology, developmental theory, philosophy of mind, cognitive studies, social science, evolutionary perspectives, and systems-oriented thought, the volume explores personality organization, identity formation, executive attachments, attention-regulatory defense, self-management, dissociation, cognitive technologies, model-dependent subjectivity, suffering, responsibility, and human agency. It retains Freud’s historical importance while examining the conceptual problems produced by a divided model of the psyche and the theoretical developments that followed it.

Extended appendices examine triangulation across mathematics, literary hermeneutics, social science, and psychological theory; distinguish normal adaptive differentiation from pathological dissociation; outline tripartite divisions of human experience; and provide an alphabetized reference system for core concepts. Fifteen original grayscale figures make the proposed architecture visible.

Written for psychology and counseling professionals, psychoanalytic and psychodynamic readers, researchers, educators, graduate students, and serious readers, Ego Perception presents a theoretical and organizational framework, not a diagnostic system, treatment protocol, universal cure, clinically proven intervention, or substitute for clinical assessment or professional judgment.

A problem resolved by updating the reading system, properly importing the file, or using a compatible EPUB 3 application does not establish file corruption.

Nothing in this policy limits any nonwaivable remedy available under applicable law or Fourthwall’s governing purchase terms.
